[ ABOUT ]The Motion Method
Move forward with clarity, confidence and purpose.
The Motion Method is my signature coaching programme for people navigating career or life transitions. It combines psychological coaching with structured physical activity to help you clarify what matters, navigate uncertainty, and find a way forward.
The approach draws on coaching psychology frameworks and techniques, including cognitive behavioural and narrative approaches, alongside evidence-informed insights from neuroscience and physiology.
By bringing together reflective conversation and purposeful movement, The Motion Method offers a distinctive space to explore challenges, gain fresh perspectives and develop greater confidence and ownership over your choices and direction.

[ BENEFITS ]Why The Motion Method works
Movement can do more than change how we feel physically; it can influence how we think, feel and approach challenges.
Research links physical activity with improved mood and reduced symptoms of anxiety, stress and depression (Mikkelsen et al., 2017). It can also foster a sense of achievement, mastery and self-efficacy, supporting self-esteem and confidence (Middelkamp et al., 2017; Spence et al., 2005).
Building on this evidence, my Master’s research explored indoor and outdoor cycling as a structured career coaching intervention, highlighting potential benefits across four interconnected areas:
Physiological benefits
Movement can help release tension, manage stress and restore a sense of energy and vitality, creating space for a fresh perspective on the challenges you’re exploring.
Psychological benefits
Movement can support a more positive mindset, strengthen self-belief and nurture a sense of purpose, capability and personal agency.
Cognitive benefits
Movement can create space for reflection, spark new ideas and help you see challenges from different perspectives, supporting problem-solving and decision-making.
Social benefits
Moving alongside your coach can foster connection, collaboration and camaraderie, creating a sense of shared purpose as you work towards your goals.
